The 10 Best Men's Wedding Rings in the UK (2026)
Alan has overseen more than 100,000 ring orders since founding Newman Bands with Clare. Newman Bands is the trading name of Manzora Ltd, incorporated in 2001; it has sold men's rings since 2019, with every design and size held in stock in the UK and same-day dispatch on orders before 5pm — most orders arrive within one to two days. Alan personally answers customer queries on metal selection and ring choice every week. Newman Bands has more than 15,000 verified customer reviews — rated 4.99 out of 5 on Reviews.io and 5.0 on Trustpilot.
Short answer: for most men the best wedding ring is a tungsten carbide band: hard enough that daily wear barely marks it, and under £70.
Choose titanium if you have a diagnosed nickel allergy or want a ring you can barely feel, ceramic if you want a black that cannot wear through, and silicone for work, the gym or a holiday. Choose solid gold or platinum if you want a hallmarked precious metal a jeweller can resize, and expect to pay from about £450 for 9ct gold and £1,000 for platinum.
How we chose these ten
Try any Newman Bands ring on this list at home, risk free. If you don’t like it, send it back free for a full refund. Within 100 days, unless it has been engraved. Size exchanges are free and unlimited.
1. Best overall: The Champion — £64 at Newman Bands
What we like
- Our single best-selling ring
- A brushed silver-coloured face that hides everyday marks, with a rose-gold-coloured groove and black edges that make it more than a plain band
- Tungsten carbide, 9 on the Mohs scale, against 2.5 to 3 for gold
- 6mm in 17 sizes from M to Z3; 8mm in 17 sizes from O to Z5
What we don’t like
- Three colours means three finishes, so a deep scrape on a black edge could show grey; that is unlikely, because the plating is very tough, as Gareth's review below shows
- 12 g in 6mm and 16 g in 8mm on our scale, so it is a ring you feel; in Alan's experience customers "soon get used to the slight extra weight", and you can try it at home and return it free within 100 days if not
- Tungsten cannot be resized; the free size exchange covers the fit, and the 100-day free return (unless engraved) covers a change of heart
The Champion is the ring to buy if you want a wedding band with some design to it that will still look new on your tenth anniversary. It is our single best-selling ring, and its reviews talk most about how it looks and how well it is made.
What you get for £64 is hardness. Tungsten carbide sits at 9 on the Mohs scratch scale, alongside sapphire. Gold sits at 2.5 to 3 and platinum at 3.5. A gold band picks up the marks of a working week; a tungsten one barely takes them.
The brushed face is the practical part. A brushed finish is already a field of fine lines, so a new one from a door handle disappears into it.
Like every tungsten ring, it is brittle rather than bendy. Alan's rule: tungsten rings "are brittle, so can break if dropped. Unlikely, but does happen", and when it happens, "we do take care of customers".
What customers say about it:
“Fantastic ring, loads of good comments on our wedding day. Comfortable to wear highly recommend A*”
Gareth Davies, Preston · verified five-star review
“The quality of the ring is superb. They could have charged more than they did and I would have still been very happy with the product. It has a lot more character than other ring styles I looked at, which is what convinced me to go for it.”
Jordan Smith, Widnes · verified five-star review

2. Best value: The Resolve — £48 at Newman Bands
What we like
- £48, the lowest price of any metal ring on this list
- Grade 5 titanium: 3 g in 6mm and 4 g in 8mm on our scale, for the man who has never worn a ring
- Nickel-free by specification, which is where we send anyone with a diagnosed nickel allergy
- 6mm in 21 sizes from K to Z5; 8mm in 17 sizes from O to Z5
What we don’t like
- Titanium is about 6 on the Mohs scale, so a polished titanium band shows fine marks sooner than tungsten; if that matters more than the weight, return it free within 100 days and choose the Elie
- About a quarter of the weight of a tungsten band; if you find you want a ring you can feel, the free 100-day return lets you switch to the Elie
- Our titanium rings cannot be resized; try it at home with a free return and full refund within 100 days, unless engraved
The Resolve is a plain polished band in Grade 5 titanium, the alloy Ti-6Al-4V, and it is the cheapest way to a metal wedding ring on this list. On 14 October 2026 Ernest Jones' 5mm titanium band was £95, and Goldsmiths' 6mm titanium band £100 plus £4.95 delivery.
The Resolve is for two grooms: the one who has reacted to a ring before, and the one who does not want to feel one. Alan's view of titanium: "Tungsten is better than titanium and we have far less issues with tungsten rings. I would only go for titanium if you are allergic to tungsten or need a lightweight ring."
Weight is the difference you notice first. Titanium is less than a third as dense as tungsten carbide, and on our scale the 6mm Resolve is 3 g against 11 g for the 6mm Elie: about a quarter of the weight.
The trade-off is hardness. A polished titanium ring will collect fine marks over years of wear where a tungsten one will not.
What customers say about it:
“It was bought as a replacement for my original wedding ring which became too big for me… I got the original from H. Samuel, at double the cost of this ring.”
David Roberts, London · verified five-star review
“Off the back of the try at home, I ordered my wedding band. I've ordered the Resolve in 6mm width. The quality, finish and size are fantastic. Very comfortable to wear, eye catching, lightweight, and looks for more expensive than it is.”
Mark Saunders · verified five-star review
3. Best classic plain band: The Elie — £58 at Newman Bands
What we like
- The polished dome most people picture when they say "wedding ring", in a metal that keeps its polish
- 11 g in 6mm and 16 g in 8mm on our scale: the heft of a precious-metal band
- Sits beside a partner's white gold or platinum ring without clashing
- 6mm in 21 sizes from K to Z5; 8mm in 17 sizes from O to Z5
What we don’t like
- It is silver-coloured tungsten, not a precious metal, so it carries no hallmark; it also costs a fraction of a hallmarked band, so there is far less to lose
- A hard scrape on a sharp edge could mark the finish, as on any coated ring; that is unlikely, because the plating is very tough, as Gareth's review under the Champion shows
- Tungsten cannot be resized, so the size has to be right; size exchanges are free and unlimited until it is
If you want a traditional plain wedding band, the Elie is that ring in tungsten carbide: a polished dome in silver-coloured tungsten that sits happily beside a white gold or platinum ring.
The difference is what it costs and how it wears. A plain 5mm platinum band was £999 at H Samuel on 14 October 2026, and platinum is 3.5 on the Mohs scale. The Elie is £58 and 9.
Weight is the other surprise. Tungsten carbide is about 1.25 times as dense as 9ct gold, so an Elie feels like a heavy gold band. We weighed it at 11 g in 6mm.
Engraving is inside the ring, £15, done here in Horsham, and about one order in five has it.
What customers say about it:
“We ordered the Mens Tungsten Wedding Ring Silver Band, this ring will be my fiance's wedding band. We love it, the fit is perfect and the colour and weight too.”
Megan Neil, London · verified five-star review
“Beautiful, sturdy wedding ring. For a tradie husband - to replace a lost ring which wasn't up to standard.”
Kim Stokes, Lancing · verified five-star review
4. Best gold-coloured band: The King — £64 at Newman Bands
What we like
- A polished gold-coloured dome for the groom who wants the look of a gold wedding ring
- Tungsten carbide under the colour, so it does not dent or bend the way a gold band can
- 12 g in 6mm and 15 g in 8mm on our scale
- 6mm in 21 sizes from K to Z5; 8mm in 17 sizes from O to Z5
What we don’t like
- It is gold-coloured tungsten, not solid gold: no hallmark and no scrap value; but it costs £64, against £450 to £550 for a plain 5mm 9ct band, so there is far less to lose
- The gold colour is a PVD finish, so a deep scrape at an edge could show the grey metal underneath; that is unlikely, because the plating is very tough, as Gareth's review under the Champion shows
- One reviewer found it "quite heavy", and another that the colour "is slightly richer and darker, than real gold"; if either matters to you, try it at home and return it free within 100 days
The King is gold-coloured tungsten carbide, not solid gold, and we say that first. What it gives you is the look of a gold wedding band at £64, against £550 for Goldsmiths' 5mm 9ct yellow gold band on 14 October 2026.
The gap is not only the metal. Gold was about £100 a gram in mid-October 2026, and 9ct is 37.5% gold, so a typical plain 9ct band holds roughly £200 to £250 of gold at that price. The rest of a high-street price is making, margin and VAT.
What you give up is real: a hallmark, scrap value, and resizing. What you gain is a ring that does not scratch like gold, and less to lose if it goes missing on holiday. Our gold rings guide goes through the trade in detail.
What customers say about it:
“After looking at places like H.Samuel and similar places all rings were looking at around £300 or more for a 9ct gold simple band. Came across this amazing company and instantly fell in love with this ring for my partners wedding band.”
Leah Constable · verified five-star review
“I purchased a Tungsten 6mm wedding band, for a timeless classic look. Traditional, something that'll suit me for the rest of my life, and got exactly that!”

5. Best black band: The Jet — £60 at Newman Bands
What we like
- A brushed matte black dome, the simplest way to wear a black wedding band
- Brushed, so everyday marks blend into the finish
- 11 g in 6mm and 15 g in 8mm on our scale
- 6mm in 19 sizes from K to Z3; 8mm in 17 sizes from O to Z5
What we don’t like
- The black is a PVD finish over grey tungsten, so a deep scrape at an edge could show grey; that is unlikely, because the plating is very tough, as Gareth's review under the Champion shows. If you want black all the way through, it is the Esteem below
- Tungsten cannot be resized, so size exchanges are free and unlimited until it fits
A black wedding ring is the least traditional choice on this list, and the Jet is the plainest way to make it. It is the same tungsten carbide as the Elie and the Champion, with a black PVD finish brushed to a matte dome.
Matte black is forgiving: a brushed finish hides the fine marks a polished one shows. One buyer whose husband has a manual job says it is "proving to be hardy no dents or scratches".
If you are choosing between black rings, our black wedding rings guide compares ten of them, including black zirconium and black ceramic.
What customers say about it:
“Got this ring for the big day and it is exactly what I was looking for! Really nice design and weight to it.”
Darren Brown, Londonderry · verified five-star review
“Was really pleased with the first ring I brought from here so got this one too. Looks great and as he has a manual job it's proving to be hardy no dents or scratches.”

6. Best colour that goes all the way through: The Esteem — £60 at Newman Bands
What we like
- Black ceramic, the same colour all the way through, so there is no coating to wear
- A brushed black centre with polished edges
- 7 g in 8mm on our scale, less than half the weight of a tungsten band
- 6mm in 16 sizes from M to Z2; 8mm in 15 sizes from O to Z3
What we don’t like
- Ceramic is hard but brittle: a hard knock on a hard surface can chip or crack it; if that worries you, return it free within 100 days and choose the tungsten Jet
- Fewer sizes than our tungsten bands, with nothing below M or above Z3; choose "I don't know my ring size" at the checkout and a sizer comes first, so you order the right one
- Cannot be resized, so size exchanges are free and unlimited until it fits
The Esteem is the answer to the one weakness of every coloured tungsten ring: the colour is a finish. Ceramic is black because the ceramic is black, so a scratch shows black underneath. That is why our team suggests ceramic to customers worried about marks: "they have the same colour throughout the ring so show any marks much less".
The trade-off is toughness. Ceramic resists scratching but is brittle, so a hard knock on a hard surface can chip it.
It is also light: we weighed the 8mm Esteem at 7 g, less than half the 8mm Jet. Ceramic is a small part of what we sell, fewer than one ring in two hundred, and our tungsten vs ceramic guide explains the choice.
What customers say about it:
“He loves it and it fits perfectly.”
Alisha Knight · verified five-star review
“Very elegant, just what we needed.”
Chelsea Collingwood · verified five-star review
7. Best for work, the gym and the beach: The Kepler — £18 at Newman Bands
What we like
- £18, so it can be the ring you wear when the real one stays at home
- If it catches on machinery it is likely to tear rather than hold your finger, which is why Alan sends machinery users to silicone
- 1 g on our scale: light and flexible, for work, the gym and travelling
- 8mm in 9 whole sizes from M to Z3; 6mm in 5 sizes from M to U
What we don’t like
- It does not look like a metal ring, and it is not meant to: at £18 it is the ring that keeps your wedding ring safe
- It cannot be engraved, so put the date inside your main ring instead (£15)
- Whole sizes only, two letters apart, so no half sizes, and the 6mm stops at U; size exchanges are free if the fit is not right
The Kepler is not a replacement for a wedding ring; it is the one you wear so the wedding ring survives. Alan's advice: "If you use machinery, rings can get caught. Silicone would likely tear and rip." A metal ring does not.
Two of its reviews come from the trades. A joiner bought it because he "was worried about wearing my platinum ring for safety reasons"; another buyer's partner wears it "within the industrial trade industry" so he does not damage his tungsten ring.
At £18 it is also the holiday ring, the gym ring and the ring for the beach. Our silicone rings come in whole US sizes, which is why the UK letters step two at a time.
What customers say about it:
“Great purchase. As a joiner, I was worried about wearing my platinum ring for safety reasons. The silicone rings are perfect for what I need!”
Niall Clouston, Westhill · verified five-star review
“Great price and great quality.”
Karen Williams, Keighley · verified five-star review
8. Best solid gold: Men's 9ct White Gold Satin Polished 5mm Band — £499 at H Samuel
What we like
- Solid 9ct gold, hallmarked, from a high-street chain with shops to try it on in
- Gold can be resized by a jeweller, which none of our tungsten, titanium or ceramic rings can
- Sizes J to Z+6, a wider range than ours
- Free 30-day returns by post or in store, and free standard delivery over £40
What we don’t like
- £499 for a 5mm band, against £58 for our Elie in 6mm
- Gold is 2.5 to 3 on the Mohs scale, so it scratches and dents in daily wear
- White gold is usually rhodium-plated to keep it white, and the plating wears; H Samuel lists white-gold cleaning with rhodium re-plating at £74.50
- Returns must be "unworn, in pristine condition", and engraved items cannot be returned
If you want a solid gold wedding ring from a shop you can walk into, this is a plain 5mm band in 9ct white gold at £499. Its own page calls it "9ct" and "White", and H Samuel's 3mm version is £399.
Gold's real advantages are a hallmark, scrap value and resizing. A jeweller can stretch or cut a gold band; independent jewellers quoted about £35 to £90 for a plain gold band in October 2026. None of the gold or platinum product pages we read said anything about resizing, so ask before you buy.
What gold does not do is stay unmarked. It is soft enough that a working hand scratches it quickly, and white gold relies on a rhodium plating that wears through; Brilliant Earth says it "typically needs to be refreshed every few years".
9. Best platinum: Platinum 5mm Heavy D Shape Ring — £999 at H Samuel
What we like
- Platinum: naturally white, so no rhodium plating to wear off, and hallmarkable
- The cheapest platinum men's band we read at the big chains on 14 October 2026; Goldsmiths' 5mm was £1,250
- Platinum can be resized by a jeweller
- Free 30-day returns by post or in store
What we don’t like
- £999 for a 5mm band, about 17 Elies
- Platinum is 3.5 on the Mohs scale, so it scratches like gold
- Heavy: platinum is about one and a half times as dense as tungsten carbide
- The page does not state the platinum's fineness, and engraved rings cannot be returned
Platinum is the precious metal for a man who wants white without plating. It does not need rhodium, and it is the densest metal on this list, so a platinum band feels substantial.
The price surprises people. On 14 October 2026 platinum and 9ct gold cost about the same per gram of ring metal, roughly £37. A platinum band costs more mainly because platinum is so dense: the same ring holds about twice the grams.
It is no harder to scratch than gold. Platinum is 3.5 on the Mohs scale, against 9 for tungsten carbide.
10. Best if you want a written guarantee for life: The Astra — £240 at Wolf&Bond
What we like
- A published guarantee for life against manufacturing defects and structural failure, which we do not offer
- Tungsten carbide with a hammered silver finish and a crushed meteorite inlay, from fragments of the Muonionalusta meteorite by its own description
- 90 days to return for any reason, and the same price in 4mm, 6mm and 8mm
What we don’t like
- £240, about four times our tungsten rings
- £4.50 is deducted from a metal-ring refund, and each size exchange costs £4.45 (refund policy), although the site banner says "Free Exchanges"
- Delivery is £3.50, and engraving is £35
- The page calls tungsten "hypoallergenic" without saying what the carbide is bound with
If a written guarantee matters more to you than price, Wolf&Bond is the specialist that gives one. Its guarantee for life covers "manufacturing defects and structural material failure under normal wear". It excludes lost rings and "plated, coloured, coated or treated finishes fading, chipping, marking or wearing over time".
We do not publish a guarantee for life, and we would rather say so than imply one. What we offer is 100 days to return any ring that has not been engraved, free size exchanges with no limit, and, in Alan's words, "we do take care of customers" if a tungsten ring breaks.
The Astra has a hammered finish and, by Wolf&Bond's description, fragments of the genuine Muonionalusta meteorite. The hypoallergenic line is worth reading carefully: tungsten carbide is bound with a metal, ours with nickel, and the Astra's page does not say which.
What we left out, and why
- Tiffany & Co.’s Forever band — from £810 (2.5mm, 18k gold) to £2,825 (6mm, platinum) on 14 October 2026, and its product page says the item is “non returnable”, while Tiffany’s general policy gives 30 days.
- King Will’s black tungsten band on Amazon — about £32 on 14 October 2026, but the same listing promises “180-Day Coverage” in one place and “a 30 DAY WARRANTY” in another, and calls the ring hypoallergenic without naming the binder.
- Ernest Jones’ Titanium 5mm Matte & Polished Band — £95 with free delivery and 30-day returns; our Resolve does the same job for £48.
- Goldsmiths’ 5mm 9ct yellow gold band — £550; its returns page gives 14 days to cancel and says the customer pays to send it back, while its product page says “Free returns via post or showroom”.
- Diamond-set and sterling silver bands — diamond-set bands are a different purchase, and sterling silver tarnishes; our best silver rings guide covers the alternatives.
