The 10 Best Tungsten Rings in the UK (2026): What Buyers Actually Choose

Alan has overseen more than 100,000 ring orders since founding Newman Bands with Clare. Newman Bands is the trading name of Manzora Ltd, incorporated in 2001; it has sold men's rings since 2019, with every design and size held in stock in the UK and same-day dispatch on orders before 5pm — most orders arrive within one to two days. Alan personally answers customer queries on metal selection and ring choice every week. Newman Bands has more than 15,000 verified customer reviews — rated 4.99 out of 5 on Reviews.io and 5.0 on Trustpilot.

We sell seven of the ten tungsten rings in this list from our warehouse in Horsham, West Sussex. The other three come from Titan Jewellery, H Samuel and Amazon, and we say where each of them wins. We earn nothing from the rival links.
Our winner is the Champion, our three-tone band, £64, because it is the ring our customers choose more than any other. The runner-up is the Elie, a plain polished silver band at £58. If you need a size beyond Z5 or a matching pair, Titan Jewellery’s 6mm court band at £56 is the ring to look at, and it is on the list.
This ranking is not our taste. It is what buyers actually chose over the twelve months to 9 October 2026, read from our own order records and published as ranks and proportions. We then read every rival’s product and policy pages on 9 October 2026, and went back through our verified reviews for the reasons people give.
By the end you will know which tungsten ring most men buy, why, what a cheap one does not include, and what happens if yours does not fit.

Short answer: about two in three of the rings we send out are tungsten, and three designs take about one in five of those orders: the Champion, the Elie and the King. Tungsten carbide is harder than any metal used in everyday rings. It cannot be resized, and it cracks rather than bends if dropped at the wrong angle.

Buy it risk free. Returns are free for 100 days on any unengraved ring, with the return postage on us. Size exchanges are free, as many times as it takes. Not sure of your size? A free sizer comes first. Try at Home brings three rings and a sizer to your door for a £5 net cost. Delivery is free Royal Mail Tracked 48, dispatched the same day before 5pm Monday to Friday.

“If you want a modern stylish ring that is a bit different, or a traditional style ring at a fraction of the price of gold and silver, tungsten is a perfect choice.” Those are Alan’s words. The thousands of reviews below are the evidence.
In this guide

How we chose these ten

We started from what our customers actually buy. The seven Newman Bands rings here are our seven best-selling tungsten designs over the twelve months to 9 October 2026, in order, read from our order records. Together they are about three in ten of all the tungsten rings we sent out; the Champion alone is about one in twelve.
We used the full year, not the last quarter. The last three months shuffle the lower places, with the Driven climbing and our white-gold rings selling well through wedding season. A year smooths that out.
Bar chart of the share of tungsten rings Newman Bands sent out in the twelve months to 9 October 2026 by design: Champion 8.6%, Elie 5.8%, King 4.6%, Zen 3.1%, Driven 2.9%, Orbital 2.5%, Jet 2.4%, all other designs 70.1%
Source: Newman Bands order data, twelve months to 9 Oct 2026. The seven picks are about three in ten of the tungsten rings we sent out.
We weighed them. Each ring went on our Salter scale on 9 October 2026, in size U and in each width we sell, and the grams are in each card. Weight is the one fact nobody on page one publishes for more than a single ring, and it changes how a ring feels more than anything else.
We read the small print, not the snippets. Every rival price, returns window, delivery charge and resizing line below comes from that retailer’s own product or policy page, read on 9 October 2026. Where a page would not load for us, we say so.
We say what we don’t like, including about our own rings. Every drawback we list for one of our rings is true of every tungsten ring on the market, whoever sells it: the material is the same. Alan’s rule: “Tungsten rings are brittle, so can break if dropped. Unlikely, but does happen.”
What we excluded: women’s rings, rings we could not verify on the seller’s own page, and any brand whose page we could not read. Rings are a personal choice; this list is a shortlist, not a verdict on yours.

1. Best overall: The Champion — £64 at Newman Bands

Best overall£64 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Our best-selling ring of any metal: about one in twelve of the tungsten rings we send out
  • 12 g for the 6mm and 16 g for the 8mm in size U on our Salter scale, the heft people buy tungsten for
  • Three finishes in one band: brushed silver centre, polished rose-gold groove, polished black bevelled edges
  • 6mm or 8mm, in 19 sizes from M to Z5
  • More than 300 verified reviews

What we don’t like

  • Two of the three colours are coatings; a hard scrape on a polished black bevel can show grey underneath, as on any coated tungsten ring from any seller
  • Tungsten cannot be resized, ours or anyone else's, so the size has to be right first time

The Champion is the ring to buy if you want something with presence that still reads as a wedding band. It is the design our customers choose more than any other, in tungsten or titanium, and it has been top of our tungsten ranking in every window we have looked at.

What makes it work is restraint. On our Salter scale, both in size U, the 6mm weighed 12 g and the 8mm 16 g, a third more ring for the wider band. The silver centre is brushed, so it hides daily marks. The rose-gold groove is thin, so it catches the light without shouting. The black bevels frame the whole thing. On the hand it looks like three rings in one.

The rose gold and black are PVD colour films over tungsten carbide. In Alan's words, "King and Champion are great because they last so long". The trade-off is the one every coloured tungsten ring carries. The colour is a film, not the body, and a polished bevel is the edge most likely to take a knock.

If it does not fit, you exchange it for another size free of charge, as many times as it takes. That is our answer to tungsten being impossible to resize.

What customers say about it:

“As good as any high street jeweller and no where near the price!”

The hardest test we have on record came by email in November 2025, from a customer called Gareth who works on the motorway and was spending his days on truck maintenance. He had bought a Champion in the summer, done a triathlon in it and been fishing in it. His words:
A customer's Champion tungsten ring on his tattooed ring finger after months of motorway and truck maintenance work, with no visible marks
Gareth's own photo of his Champion, sent with the email: months of motorway work, truck maintenance, a triathlon and fishing.
“My hands are constantly dirty, wet, covered in oil and grease. I’ve also done a triathlon wearing it and I have been fishing in it many times, and it honestly looks like brand new. There isn’t a single scratch or blemish on the ring.”
Gareth, by email to Alan, 28 November 2025

2. Best plain silver band: The Elie — £58 at Newman Bands

The Elie polished silver-coloured tungsten ring in 6mm and in 8mm, each worn on the ring finger of a left hand on a white studio surface, the 8mm visibly wider
The Elie in 6mm and 8mm on the hand: a polished dome, nothing else.
The Elie 6mm and 8mm rings on a Salter scale reading 11 g and 16 g
The Elie on our Salter scale, 9 October 2026: 11 g for the 6mm, 16 g for the 8mm.
Best plain silver band£58 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Our second best-selling tungsten ring, and the plainest: a polished silver dome with no groove or pattern
  • 6mm or 8mm, in 21 sizes from K to Z5, the full run
  • 11 g for the 6mm and 16 g for the 8mm in size U on our Salter scale
  • A 4mm Elie Thin Style exists for men who want the same ring slimmer
  • More than 140 verified reviews

What we don’t like

  • A polished surface shows fingerprints and fine marks more than a brushed one, whoever makes the ring
  • Nothing to hide behind: if you want detail, this is not the ring

The Elie is the ring to buy if you want a wedding band that does not announce itself. It is a polished dome in tungsten's own silver-grey, and it is the second most chosen tungsten ring we sell. Buyers describe it as the replacement for a lost ring, at a fraction of the price.

It ranks above every silver band we make except the three-tone Champion: the plain polished dome outsells each single-colour silver pattern, the Zen and the Milan among them. Our reviews for the Elie include several trades. A plumber and a man with "a manual, hands on job" both chose it for a working day. A plain band has no edge to catch and no inlay to damage.

One reviewer replaced a titanium ring with it "that didn't look great for more than 5 minutes" and called the Elie "a heavy ring and amazing quality". Weight is the thing people notice first about tungsten: on our scale the 8mm weighed 16 g, the same as the 8mm Champion, and the 6mm 11 g.

If you want the same ring in a slimmer profile, the Elie Thin Style is 4mm and sells in the same sizes from K to Z2.

What customers say about it:

“I have a manual, hands on job, which means sometimes I have to remove the ring to avoid any injuries, but majority of the time I wear it. It has not deteriorated at all. The tungsten material is absolutely solid and has not changed shape in any way. First class product and first class service from Newman Bands.”
Mitch Scarman · verified five-star review

“I brought the 6mm band. It's fabulous, holds up so well and stays looking amazing. The quality is amazing and overall I'm super happy I purchased this as my wedding band. It is a replacement from a titanium that didn't look great for more than 5 minutes. I'd buy again. It's a heavy ring and amazing quality.”

3. Best gold tungsten: The King — £64 at Newman Bands

The King in 6mm and 8mm on the hand: a polished dome in gold-coloured tungsten. Not gold, and we say so.

The King on our Salter scale, 9 October 2026: 12 g for the 6mm, 15 g for the 8mm.
Best gold tungsten£64 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Our third best-selling tungsten ring and the gold one buyers choose: a polished gold-coloured dome
  • 6mm or 8mm, in 21 sizes from K to Z5
  • 12 g for the 6mm and 15 g for the 8mm in size U on our Salter scale
  • Reviewers who priced a solid gold band in the same style say they were looking at several times the cost
  • More than 200 verified reviews

What we don’t like

  • It is gold-coloured tungsten, not gold: no gold content, no scrap value
  • A gold colour film can wear at the edges over years of hard use, on any gold-coloured tungsten ring, not only ours

The King is the ring to buy if you want a gold wedding band and do not want to pay for gold. We say that plainly because some sellers do not: the colour is a PVD film over tungsten carbide, and there is no gold in it. What you get is the look, the weight and the hardness, for £64. On our scale the 8mm weighed 15 g and the 6mm 12 g.

Our customers understand the trade and make it on purpose. One priced "a few gold ones" in the same style and size and was "looking at least ten times the cost". Another wrote that on the finger it "looks just like a gold ring but a fraction of the price". A third replaced a 49-year-old lost 9ct band with it.

The colour is the part to be clear about. Alan's experience is that the King and the Champion "last so long", and the gold film is as hard as the carbide under it. It is still a film no more than two thousandths of a millimetre thick, and a deep scrape at an edge can show grey. We would rather you knew that before you bought than after.

If a diagnosed nickel allergy is part of the decision, read the hypoallergenic section below before choosing any tungsten ring.

What customers say about it:

“I'm delighted with ring. I went for the 6mm band, its beautiful and just what I was looking for to replace my wedding ring which I lost. It feels great, has a nice weight, and looks far more expensive than it is. I'd priced a few gold ones but was looking at least ten times the cost for the same style, size and weight.”
James Pearson, Liverpool · verified five-star review

“My favourite thing is the weight. Its quite heavy compared to others I tried. It looks fantastic, and perfect for a wedding ring (or Lord of the Rings fan or both!).”

4. Best brushed and polished silver: The Zen — £58 at Newman Bands

The Zen on our Salter scale, 9 October 2026, size U: 12 g for the 6mm, 16 g for the 8mm.
Best brushed and polished silver£58 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • A raised brushed silver centre with polished stepped edges: two finishes, one colour
  • The brushed centre hides the daily marks a polished dome shows
  • 6mm or 8mm, in 21 sizes from K to Z5
  • 12 g for the 6mm and 16 g for the 8mm in size U on our Salter scale
  • More than 80 verified reviews, several from men in the building trade

What we don’t like

  • The polished steps catch the light, so a scrape there is more visible than on the brushed face, as on any ring with polished edges
  • Overtaken by the Driven in the last three months, so fourth is a close call

The Zen is the ring to buy if the Elie is too plain and the Champion is too much. It keeps tungsten's silver-grey but splits the surface: a brushed band through the middle, polished steps at the edges. It reads as a wedding ring from across a room.

Builders choose it. One reviewer's husband "wears it for building and there isn't any wear and tear on it". Another is "in construction so wanted a hard wearing metal". The brushed centre is the practical part: it takes the knocks of a working day without showing them the way a mirror finish would.

Two reviews name the price against the ring it replaced. One replaced a wedding ring lost at work with "the exact same" ring at a third of the price. Another, whose ring had become too big, did not want "to drop another £500 on a ring" and found the Zen instead.

Fourth place is close. In the last quarter the Driven overtook it, which is why both are here.

What customers say about it:

“Ordered my husband a replacement wedding ring after he lost his first one at work. The ring is like the exact same as his first one but 1/3 of the price and the exact same quality! Very quick delivery and exchange for a different size. When speaking to Clare by email she was so helpful and very quick at messaging back.”
Hannah Bassett · verified five-star review

“Super quality ring, for the money fantastic, really solid heavy ring and with the curved inner super smooth to take on and off. Size was spot on. Just as good as anything from more expensive high street retailers.”

5. Best gunmetal grey: The Driven — £65 at Newman Bands

The Driven on our Salter scale, 9 October 2026, size U: 12 g for the 6mm, 17 g for the 8mm.
Best gunmetal grey£65 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Gunmetal grey, darker than silver and softer than black, with a brushed centre and polished bevelled edges
  • 12 g for the 6mm and 17 g for the 8mm in size U, the heaviest 8mm we weighed
  • The fastest riser in our ranking: fifth over the year, fourth over the last three months
  • 6mm or 8mm

What we don’t like

  • A narrower size run than our plain bands, N to Z2
  • Gunmetal is a colour film, like our black and gold, so the same edge-wear caveat applies to every gunmetal tungsten ring on the market
  • Fewer reviews so far than the four rings above it

The Driven is the ring to buy if silver is too bright and black is too much. Gunmetal grey sits between the two, and on a brushed centre it looks like dark steel. It is the ring our customers have moved towards this year.

The colour is applied the same way as our black and gold rings, as a PVD film over the carbide. That gives it the same strength and the same honest caveat: polished bevels are where a hard knock shows.

On our scale the 8mm Driven was the heaviest 8mm of the seven at 17 g; the 6mm weighed 12 g. The reviews are about weight and work. One buyer in construction calls it a "solid ring that will be safe for me to wear all the time". Another describes "the weight is nice and heavy and the finish in gunmetal grey is unique and classy".

The size run is the practical limit. It starts at N and ends at Z2, where the Elie, King and Zen run from K to Z5. If you need a very small or very large size, pick one of those or Titan Jewellery below.

What customers say about it:

“Purchased for my wedding ring and can honestly say I love it. The weight is nice and heavy and the finish in gunmetal grey is unique and classy.”

6. Best inlay: The Orbital — £55 at Newman Bands

The Orbital silver tungsten ring with its meteorite-pattern inlay and carbon-fibre stripe, worn on the ring finger of a hand against a white studio background
The Orbital on the hand: a meteorite-pattern inlay and a carbon-fibre stripe under smooth resin, 8mm.
The Orbital 8mm ring on a Salter scale reading 10 g
The Orbital on our Salter scale, 9 October 2026, size U: 10 g.
Best inlay£55 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Our best-selling inlay ring: a meteorite-pattern centre and a black carbon-fibre stripe in polished silver tungsten
  • The inlay is sealed under resin, so the surface is smooth to the touch
  • The cheapest of our seven picks on the day we checked
  • 10 g in size U on our Salter scale, the lightest 8mm of the seven: the inlay replaces part of the carbide
  • More than 90 verified reviews

What we don’t like

  • The meteorite is a pattern, not iron from space; our product page says so and so do we
  • 8mm only, and the size run starts at O
  • Polished all over, so it reflects rather than hides

The Orbital is the ring to buy if a plain band bores you. It is the inlay ring our customers choose most, and the one people buy as a gift: meteorite-pattern rings nearly double their share of our orders in November and December.

We are careful with the word meteorite. The Orbital's centre is a meteorite-pattern inlay under clear resin, not a slice of iron meteorite, and we would rather say so than let the name do the selling. One reviewer called it "textured meteorite-style detailing", which is exactly right. If you want a ring with real meteorite in it, expect to pay a good deal more elsewhere.

What you get for £55 is a ring with a story on it and a smooth surface. One reviewer had tried on rings "far more expensive" in jewellers' shops and chose this. Two reviewers bought a pair: one for the wedding and one for work, or one as a spare.

The limits are width and size. It comes in 8mm only, from O to Z5. It is also the lightest 8mm we weighed, 10 g in size U, because the inlay takes the place of some of the carbide.

What customers say about it:

“Beautiful ring a real eye catcher. Bought as a replacement wedding band for my husband who lost his in the Red Sea. Such a fab price so will be buying more too! Super fast delivery.”

7. Best black: The Jet — £60 at Newman Bands

The Jet brushed black tungsten ring on a Salter scale reading 15 g
The Jet, 8mm, size U, on our Salter scale: 15 g.
Best black£60 at Newman Bands, checked 12 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Our best-selling black tungsten ring: brushed matte black, slightly domed, no pattern
  • Black is about three in ten of the rings we send out, and the Jet is the black tungsten band they choose most
  • 6mm or 8mm, in 21 sizes from K to Z5
  • 11 g for the 6mm and 15 g for the 8mm in size U on our Salter scale
  • More than 130 verified reviews

What we don’t like

  • The black is a coating, so a hard scrape on a sharp edge can show grey underneath, on any black tungsten ring from any seller
  • Seventh and eighth in our ranking are neck and neck, so a different year could swap it for the Milan

The Jet is the ring to buy if you want black without a pattern. It is brushed rather than polished, so it reads matte, and it is the black tungsten ring our customers choose most. We ranked it first in our black-rings guide, published on 9 October 2026, for the same reason.

A landscaper's wife chose it after his titanium ring "scratched to the bare metal underneath", and read the reviews to find other men in similar trades wearing it. A plumber's wife chose it because, as she put it, a "good one" would look like "a part he uses on a daily basis".

The caveat is the coating. In Alan's words, "I would always recommend tungsten over titanium as the plating is stronger." It is still a film over grey carbide, and the edge of a brushed dome is where an unlucky scrape shows. We cover what that looks like further down.

On our scale the 8mm Jet weighed 15 g, the same as the 8mm King, and the 6mm 11 g. Black also shows laser engraving best: the text reads silver-grey on black.

What customers say about it:

“I purchased this as a replacement wedding band for my husband. It is absolutely amazing! Nice and heavy and looks lovely. He is a landscaper so his other ring, which was titanium scratched to the bare metal underneath. I read the reviews on this Tungsten ring and saw there were a few people who had purchased it had jobs in similar industries.”
Nicola Kinnie · verified five-star review

“Amazing wedding band for a plumber. My Nick couldn't have a good one as apparently it would look like a part he uses on a daily basis. The ring arrived quickly was well packaged and fits perfectly. We liked how affordable it was and how it was exactly what we were looking for”

8. Best for sizes beyond Z5 or a matching pair: 6mm Mens Court Tungsten Carbide Wedding Ring — £56 at Titan Jewellery

Bar chart of what a plain tungsten band cost on 9 October 2026, from £31.99 for King Will on Amazon to £276 at Manly Bands, with the Newman Bands Elie at £58
The price ladder: each retailer's own product page, read 9 Oct 2026. Titan sits a few pounds under our Elie.
Best for sizes beyond Z5 or a matching pair£56 at Titan Jewellery, checked 9 Oct 2026

What we like

  • Stocks tungsten in UK sizes I to Z+11, including some half sizes, where our rings stop at Z5
  • Sells women's tungsten bands from 3mm, so a couple can buy a matching pair from one place
  • Free UK delivery, a 2-year guarantee and a 30-day no-quibble refund or exchange, dispatched from Kent
  • Honest that tungsten carbide is "difficult or impossible to resize"

What we don’t like

  • 30 days to return or exchange, against 100 days with us, and the page does not say who pays return postage
  • Its delivery, returns and product pages would not load for us on 9 October 2026, so every fact here is from its category page alone
  • 45 designs, mostly plain court bands; nothing to compare with an inlay or a three-tone ring

We do not stock sizes above Z5, and we do not sell women's rings, so this is the label Titan Jewellery genuinely wins. Its category page lists UK sizes I to Z+11 with some half sizes, and a 3mm women's court band, £50, next to the men's. If you need a very large size or a matching pair, that is the shortest answer in this list.

The 6mm Mens Court is £56 and the 5mm Classic Court is £54, both plain polished bands, both close to the Elie in look. On price there is little in it.

The difference is what surrounds the ring. Titan gives you 30 days to return or exchange; we give you 100, with free unlimited size exchanges and a prepaid label. Its guarantee is two years. We do not publish a warranty, because the returns and exchange policy is the promise we can keep every time.

One caution about our own reading. Titan's site blocked our attempts to read its delivery and returns pages, so we have quoted only what its category page says. Read those pages yourself before you order.

Not for you if: you want more than 30 days to change your mind, you may need a second or third size exchange, or you want a patterned or two-tone ring.

What we don’t like

  • Only two tungsten rings in its wedding range on the day we looked; the other is £179
  • 30-day returns, against 100 days with us
  • Its product data lists a polished band as a "Patterned Band"

If you want to put a ring on in a shop before you pay for it, no website can offer that, and we will not pretend otherwise. H Samuel sells a 5mm polished tungsten band for £99.99, and you can return or exchange it in any UK store within 30 days.

What you are paying for is the shop. The ring is a plain polished band in the metal's own silver-grey, the same idea as our Elie, which is £58. H Samuel's own category FAQ says tungsten rings "cannot usually be resized", which is correct and worth reading before you buy from anyone.

The range is the other limit. On 9 October 2026 the tungsten filter in its wedding section showed two rings: this one and a £179 tungsten and black ceramic band. There is no gold, gunmetal or inlay to compare.

Our alternative to the shop floor is Try at Home: three rings and a sizer delivered to your door for a £5 net cost, with a prepaid label to send back the ones you do not keep.

Not for you if: you want more than 30 days, a colour other than silver, or a 6mm or 8mm width.

10. Best if price is all that matters: King Will black tungsten, 8mm — £31.99 on Amazon

Bar chart of the rating breakdown on the King Will tungsten ring listing on Amazon, read 9 October 2026: 80% five stars, 10% four, 5% three, 1% two, 4% one
The listing's own rating breakdown, read 9 Oct 2026: one buyer in twenty gave it one or two stars.
Best if price is all that matters£31.99 on Amazon.co.uk, checked 9 Oct 2026

What we like

  • £31.99, sent from Amazon, with Amazon's 30-day return in its original condition
  • Tungsten carbide, so the base material is the same family as ours

What we don’t like

  • One in twenty of its 12,470 ratings is one or two stars (rating breakdown read 9 Oct 2026: 80% five, 10% four, 5% three, 1% two, 4% one)
  • Half sizes only from N½ to X½, then Z, Z+1 and Z+3, so there is no whole size from N to X; the listing says it cannot be resized
  • The listing promises "180-Day Coverage" in one bullet and a "30 DAY WARRANTY" further down
  • Sold by a third-party seller, UP EU; country of origin China; the binder in the carbide is not stated anywhere on the page
  • Described as "hypoallergenic" with nothing on the page to support it

This is the ring for a buyer who has decided that price is the only thing that matters, and we would rather say so than pretend it does not exist. At £31.99 it is a tungsten carbide band with a black coating, and the listing's own figures tell you the rest.

Start with the ratings. A 4.6-star average sounds settled until you read the breakdown: one rating in twenty is one or two stars. Across 12,470 ratings that is several hundred buyers who gave it one or two stars.

Then the sizes. Tungsten cannot be resized, and this ring comes in half sizes only between N½ and X½. Our range covers every whole UK size from K to Z5, with a free sizer if you choose "I don't know my ring size", and free exchanges as many times as it takes.

Then the small print. One bullet promises "180-Day Coverage"; the description underneath offers a "30 DAY WARRANTY". The page calls the ring hypoallergenic and never says what the carbide is bound with. Ours is nickel, we say so, and we explain what that means below.

Alan's view: you often pay for what you get. If you do not care about quality and just want a cheap ring, this one will probably fit the bill, but do not expect a quality ring at that price. If you care about the gift you are giving, it is worth paying the extra and buying from a quality jeweller like Newman Bands, with the reviews and the returns policy to back it up.

Not for you if: you are not certain of your size, you want to know what is in the ring, or you want the people who sold it to answer when something goes wrong.

What we left out, and why

  • Wedding Rings Direct, plain bands priced from £99.97 (category page, 9 Oct 2026). A Brighton showroom and free insured delivery, but 30-day returns with the buyer paying return postage, and a resizing page that prices a “resize” of this metal at £35 to £45 before saying such rings “can’t usually be resized”. What it offers is one paid remake within three months.
  • Royal Mile Silver, white gold tungsten 6mm £68 (product page, 9 Oct 2026). Edinburgh, 72 tungsten designs. A size exchange is free in name, but its policy page asks you to pay postage both ways and buy a £5 exchange listing. Its product copy says the ring “contains no nickel” without naming what the carbide is bound with.
  • HusBands, silver 6mm court £65 (product page, 9 Oct 2026). One free size exchange on its premium rings, then £5 each, under a banner that says “free size exchanges”. Delivery £2.99; made-to-order rings take 10 to 15 business days.
  • Wolf&Bond, The Meridian polished silver tungsten 6mm £200 (product page, 9 Oct 2026). More than three times the Elie. Its guarantee, marketed as lifetime cover, excludes finishes that “fade, mark, chip or wear”; its returns deduct a fee; it dispatches on Mondays and Thursdays.
  • Temple & Grace, 4mm comfort-fit tungsten £209 (product page, 9 Oct 2026). 100-day returns, which is fair. But the product page advertises “Free Lifetime Resizing” on a tungsten ring, and tungsten cannot be resized; its own terms list the metals excluded from resizing and tungsten is not among them.
  • Foundoria, Argentis plain tungsten £105 (product data, 9 Oct 2026). A well-written guide and an 8mm band in eight sizes only, P½ to Y. Its refund page says a size exchange is free and, on the same page, that return shipping is “Your responsibility”.
  • Flinn and Steel, The Ruskin Green polished 6mm £140 (product data, 9 Oct 2026). 6mm only, one free exchange within 30 days with a £4.99 label. Its guide says a tungsten ring needs “diamond-tipped tools” to cut off in an emergency. It does not; see below.
  • T H Baker and Gladstones Jewellers, Unique & Co TUR-8 polished 6mm. The same ring is £42 at T H Baker and £57 at Gladstones (both pages, 9 Oct 2026). T H Baker’s online returns policy does not apply to purchases made in store; Gladstones gives 21 days.
  • Custom Tungsten Rings UK, 6mm domed silver £38.99 (product page, 9 Oct 2026). The only page-one seller to publish a weight (9.74 g for a 6mm), but “normal delivery time is between 14 to 33 days”, and an exchange is yours only if you pay the shipping.
  • Manly Bands and Forge & Lumber. Manly Bands’ UK site would not load; its en-gb store lists its plain bands at £276 to £298, ships from the US and allows one exchange in 30 days. Forge & Lumber’s plain tungsten is £145 and takes “approximately 2 to 8 weeks”.

How to choose a tungsten ring

What do tungsten buyers actually choose?

The Champion above everything else, and 8mm by a small margin. About two in three of the rings we send out are tungsten. Within tungsten, three designs take about one in five of the orders: the Champion, the Elie and the King. Nearly half of all the rings we send out are 8mm, 6mm is close behind, and about one in ten is a 4mm thin style.
Colour follows the calendar. Black is about three in ten of our rings and rises to about two in five in November and December, when rings are bought as gifts. Gold climbs in wedding season. Across the rings we send out, T is the middle size; S, T and U cover about a third, and P to W nearly three-quarters.

How heavy is a tungsten ring?

Between 10 g and 17 g for the seven we weighed, all in size U on our Salter scale on 9 October 2026. The 8mm bands run from 15 g to 17 g, with the Driven the heaviest at 17 g; the 6mm bands weigh 11 g or 12 g.
A plain 8mm tungsten band weighs about a third more than the same ring in 6mm. The Orbital is the exception at 10 g for an 8mm, because its inlay replaces part of the carbide.
Source: Newman Bands, Salter scale, size U, 9 Oct 2026 (8mm Jet re-weighed 16 Oct 2026).
For scale, the same 8mm band in titanium weighs about a third as much. Most of our reviewers name the weight as the thing they like; a few find it heavier than they expected, which is what Try at Home is for.

What are the downsides of a tungsten ring?

Three, and every honest seller admits them. It cannot be resized. It can crack if dropped at the wrong angle. And a coloured one is a coating over grey carbide. All three apply to every tungsten ring sold anywhere, ours included, not only to the rings in this list.
Tungsten carbide has almost no give. AZoM’s materials data puts its ductility at well under one per cent. That is why no jeweller can stretch or compress it, and why a drop onto tile or concrete at the wrong angle can crack it rather than dent it.
In Alan’s words: “Tungsten rings are brittle, so can break if dropped. Unlikely, but does happen, but we do take care of customers if this does happen.” In our experience it is roughly one ring in a thousand.
The weight is the other thing to know. By density, a tungsten ring weighs about three and a half times the same ring in titanium and about four-fifths of the same ring in pure gold. Most of our reviewers love that; a few find it heavier than they expected. If you have never worn a ring, Try at Home lets you feel the difference before you decide.

Who should not buy a tungsten ring?

In Alan’s words, three kinds of buyer. First, anyone who works with machinery: “If you use machinery, rings can get caught.” A solid ring of any metal is the wrong ring for that job; a silicone ring tears free.
Second, in Alan’s list, electrical engineers: a metal ring conducts electricity. Third, the allergic few: “some are allergic, but not many”, about one in a thousand in our experience. For a diagnosed nickel allergy we point to Grade 5 titanium instead.
What customers get wrong before they buy is the opposite of the sales pitch. Tungsten can break, whichever shop it came from. It is very hard, so it will not scratch from keys, tools or a gym bar, and it will not bend out of round. Hard and tough are different things, and a hard ring cracks where a soft one dents.

Why are tungsten rings so cheap on Amazon?

Because the ring is the cheap part. Tungsten carbide bands are sintered in bulk for every brand in this list, ours included. The differences are in what surrounds the ring.
What the price does not buy is everything around the ring. The Amazon listing we read does not say what binds the carbide, offers half sizes only, gives 30 days, and promises two different warranties on the same page. About one buyer in five adds engraving with us; on that listing you contact the seller. Around 30% of our customers need a size exchange; with us they are free and unlimited, with a prepaid label.
In Alan’s words, “you often pay for what you get”. The difference between £31.99 and £58 is a free sizer, 100 days, unlimited exchanges, engraving done in Horsham the same day, and Alan or Clare answering the email when something goes wrong.

Is tungsten hypoallergenic?

Not in the way the word is usually used, and we would rather explain than claim. Our tungsten rings are tungsten carbide bound with nickel, about 15% of the ring, and we hold no test certificates. Nickel is the common jewellery sensitiser: in a 2018 European population study about one adult in seven was sensitised to nickel, against about one in fifty for cobalt.
What matters for skin is release, not content. UK rules, carried over from REACH Annex XVII, limit nickel release from articles in prolonged skin contact to 0.5 micrograms per square centimetre per week. We have not had our rings tested for nickel release, so we do not claim a figure. What we can say is that in our experience about one wearer in a thousand reports a reaction.
Cheap listings often say “hypoallergenic” and never name the binder at all. If you have a diagnosed nickel allergy, do not guess: choose Grade 5 titanium, which contains no nickel by specification.

What if it doesn't fit?

With us, you exchange it for another size free of charge, as many times as it takes, and you have 100 days to return it for a refund unless it has been engraved. Around 30% of our customers need a size exchange, which is why the policy exists. Choose “I don’t know my ring size” at checkout and a free sizer comes first.
Tungsten cannot be resized by a jeweller, so with every other seller in this list the question is the exchange policy. Titan gives 30 days; H Samuel 30 days in store; Amazon 30 days to a third-party seller. Read the exchange terms before you buy from anyone.

Can a tungsten ring be engraved?

Yes, on the inside. We laser-engrave up to 28 characters inside tungsten rings for £15, in-house, dispatched the same day. About one buyer in five adds it. Engraved rings cannot be returned or exchanged, because they are personalised, so at checkout you choose: have it engraved straight away, or try the ring on first and send it back free to be engraved once the size is right.

Can a tungsten ring be cut off in an emergency?

Yes, but not with a ring cutter. Emergency departments crack tungsten carbide rings off with locking pliers; emergency-medicine guidance describes the method and the eye protection it needs. In a published comparison the pliers method took about 23 seconds. Tell the hospital what the ring is made of. We have a full guide to how tungsten rings are cut off.

How thick is the colour on a coloured tungsten ring?

Thin, and that is the whole caveat. Gold, black and gunmetal tungsten rings, ours included, are coloured with a PVD film. Ionbond lists decorative PVD coatings at 0.2 to 2 microns. That is at most two thousandths of a millimetre, and the film is as hard as the carbide under it.
Daily wear does not rub a film that hard away, but a deep scrape on a polished edge can show grey. Silver tungsten has no colour to lose.

What Our Customers Say

“Bought a wedding ring two years ago and still going strong. Quality is still great and hard to scratch or mark.”
Jude Dankwa, Crawley
verified customer review — quoted word-for-word
“We bought it to replace my husbands wedding ring as it couldn't be resized after some weight loss and honestly we're thrilled with the quality, it feels just as expensive as the original ring he paid 3x the price for!”
Connor Moore, Ballymena
verified customer review — quoted word-for-word
“When I married I purchased a white gold ring which I wore for 7 years without problem. Early last year my ring finger reacted badly to the nickel in the ring. Slowly my finger is getting back to normal and so I searched for a hypoallergenic ring. The ring is fantastic, although I still cannot wear one 100% of the time, it does not cause the issues that the gold one did.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Every tungsten ring sold in the UK, including ours, is sintered carbide, so the brand is the service around it. Who sends a sizer, how long you have to return it, whether exchanges are free, and who answers when something goes wrong. We give 100 days, free unlimited size exchanges and same-day dispatch. No other seller on page one of Google for this search publishes which rings its customers actually buy.
Tungsten if you want weight and the hardest surface; titanium if you want the lightest ring or have a diagnosed nickel allergy. By density a tungsten ring weighs about three and a half times the same ring in titanium. In Alan’s experience the colour coating on tungsten is tougher than on titanium. Our tungsten vs titanium guide goes through it.
On the hand, yes: one reviewer describes the King as looking “just like a gold ring but a fraction of the price”. It is not gold. The colour is a PVD film over tungsten carbide, with no gold content and no scrap value, and a deep scrape at an edge can show grey.
The ring itself does not wear out. Tungsten carbide does not bend, wear thin or tarnish, which is why customers who wear one for building, plumbing and truck maintenance write to say it still looks new. The risk, with any tungsten ring from any seller, is a crack from a drop onto a hard floor, roughly one ring in a thousand in our experience.
No, and that is true of every tungsten ring, not only ours. Tungsten carbide cannot be stretched, compressed or cut and rejoined, so no jeweller can resize it. We replace resizing with free, unlimited size exchanges and 100-day returns on unengraved rings. Any seller offering to “resize” tungsten is offering a remake.
Nearly half of the rings we send out are 8mm and about four in ten are 6mm, so either is normal. In our experience an 8mm feels tighter than a 6mm in the same size, because more skin is covered. If you have never worn a ring, or have slim fingers, start at 6mm. Try at Home lets you compare both on your hand.
