Polished gold tungsten with a silver section running through the centre. 6mm or 8mm. Two tones sharing one ring — the gold catches warm light while the silver groove adds a clean, modern contrast. Most buyers choose the Paradox as a wedding band or a gift for a partner. It’s a popular choice for men replacing a gold ring that didn’t hold up. 75+ five-star reviews.
Tungsten carbide rates 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — one below diamond. The gold finish is bonded using PVD coating, the same vapour deposition process used on luxury watches. It won’t scratch, tarnish, or react with skin. If you’ve had gold rings lose their plating or pick up scratches within months, this holds its finish indefinitely. Comfort-fit interior. Engravable. Dispatched today.
What makes this ring worth it?
Walk into a jeweller and you’ll find versions of our rings for 3–4 times the price. The difference isn’t the ring — it’s the overheads. We work directly with the craftspeople who make them and carry the stock ourselves, which is how we can sell a ring that genuinely lasts for a fraction of high street prices.
Traditional gold and silver scratch, bend and lose their shine. That doesn’t happen here. We use a high end process called PVD plating which is the same process used on high end watches to keep your ring looking great.
Why buy from Newman Bands?
We’re based in Horsham and dispatch the same day for orders before 5pm (11am Saturday). That includes engraved rings — we hold stock and engrave on site, which is why we can still get it to you in 1–2 days. Most online ring sellers take 2 weeks or more.
We’ve fulfilled over 100,000 orders since 2019 and hold over 10,000 five-star reviews across Trustpilot and Reviews.io. Any questions before you buy — contact us directly. No chatbots, no outsourced support. We handle it ourselves.

THE DETAILS
Tungsten carbide sits at 9 on the Mohs hardness scale — one below diamond. The gold PVD finish is bonded at a molecular level, not plated on top. Stephen from Gillingham replaced two high-street gold wedding bands that scuffed and lost their plating. His Paradox: “Have had the ring a little over a week now. It fits great, is comfortable and still looks brand new and fresh out the box.”
Tungsten carbide is comparable in density to 18K gold. The Paradox has weight to it — it feels substantial on the hand. Julia called it “heavy, well made, lovely presented — beautiful and manly.” Over 10 buyers mention the weight unprompted as a sign of quality.
The polished gold surface with its silver section gives the Paradox the appearance of a white and yellow gold band. Rebecca from Redruth bought it as a replacement wedding ring for her husband: “It’s stunning! You can’t even tell looking at it that it’s not gold!”
Every ring arrives in a presentation box. Add a date, name, or message with laser engraving done in-house. We engrave and post the same day. Derek from Romania ordered his engraved: “Top quality ring, nicely engraved, delivered quickly. Everyone loves it.”

Who This Ring Is For
The Paradox splits roughly into three buyer groups. The largest: partners buying a wedding band or a gift. Helen from Manchester bought it for her husband. Sophie from Blackpool chose it for her partner. Emily bought it as a wedding band for her future husband before their December ceremony.
The second group: men replacing a gold wedding ring that didn’t hold up. Stephen from Gillingham went through two high-street gold bands that scuffed and lost their rhodium plating before finding the Paradox. Paul from Bristol uses his as a replacement wedding ring. Michael used it for his wedding — and when the size wasn’t right, the exchange was effortless.
The third: men who want the look of a traditional gold band but with modern durability. The two-tone design bridges the gap — classic enough for a wedding, distinctive enough that it doesn’t look like every other ring in the room.
A polished gold tungsten band with a polished silver groove inlaid through the centre. The gold surface catches warm light. The silver groove adds a clean line of contrast that keeps the ring from reading as plain gold. The result is a two-tone ring that sits somewhere between classic and modern — traditional enough for a wedding, interesting enough to draw a second look.
Available in 6mm and 8mm. Both widths carry the same two-tone design. Candace chose the 6mm and found it “solid, substantial and a comfortable size.”“Just the right blend of gold and silver.” — Robert Illingworth
Why Tungsten Lasts
Tungsten carbide is one of the hardest materials used in jewellery — 9 on the Mohs scale, one step below diamond. It won’t scratch from everyday contact, won’t bend under pressure, and won’t tarnish from moisture or skin.
The gold finish is applied with PVD coating — a vapour deposition process that bonds colour at a molecular level rather than plating it on top. This is the same process used on luxury watches. It won’t peel, fade, or react with skin.
Tungsten can’t be resized. If the fit isn’t right, return it free and we’ll exchange it the same day it arrives. Cheryl from Caerphilly exchanged hers twice, free of charge, before landing on the right size: “Excellent customer service. Great quality and highly recommended.”
How it Compares
Traditional gold scratches within months of daily wear and needs replating. Emma-Jayne from Derby bought the Paradox as her husband’s wedding ring and he wears it through his physical job: “The weight and thickness of it is great and brilliant for my now husband and his physical job. Great value for money.”
Nathan from Hackney compared it directly against similar two-tone designs from high-street jewellers. His verdict: better looking, better weight, and a fraction of the cost. The material is the same tungsten carbide used across the industry. The craftsmanship is the same. The difference is the markup.
Buying This as a Gift?
The presentation box does the work for you — no wrapping needed. Add a laser engraving and it becomes personal. We engrave in-house and post the same day.
“Bought this for my partner and couldn’t be happier with the product! The quality and standard of the ring is exceptional.”
— Sophie Clements, Blackpool

“After having had two wedding bands from a high street jewellers — one being my ideal ring, but got scuffed so easily and the white gold part lost its rhodium plating so quickly — I came across Newman Bands and saw they had the Paradox ring. I could’ve bought almost 20 of these rings for the price of my original band, and I’d argue this one is a lot better!”
Stephen Kitney, Gillingham
The most common reaction from Paradox buyers is that you cannot tell the gold finish is not real gold. Rebecca from Redruth bought it as a replacement wedding ring and said it was indistinguishable from gold. Over 15 buyers mention value unprompted — the weight, the polished gold finish, and the presentation box consistently read as a ring costing far more than they paid.
“Beautiful quality ring! I bought for my husband as a replacement wedding ring and it’s stunning! You can’t even tell looking at it that it’s not gold!”
Rebecca Coombs, Redruth
“We absolutely loved this ring, perfect wedding band. Lovely classic style, the weight and thickness of it is great and brilliant for my now husband and his physical job.”
Emma-Jayne Moore, Derby
The Paradox is overwhelmingly bought for weddings and as gifts, with partners and fiancees consistently reporting strong reactions. Buyers mention fast delivery, free exchanges, and personal communication — Cheryl from Caerphilly needed two exchanges and both were free. David Hunter from Edinburgh is on his fourth Newman Bands ring. All 78 verified reviews are five stars.

The most common hesitation with a gold-tone tungsten ring is whether the colour will last. Stephen from Gillingham had been through two gold wedding bands from a high-street jeweller — both scuffed and lost their plating within months. He found the Paradox, ordered it, and a week later it still looked brand new. His words: “I could’ve bought almost 20 of these rings for the price of my original band, and I’d argue this one is a lot better.”
