No. Tungsten rings cannot be resized. The manufacturing process makes resizing physically impossible. If your ring size changes, you need a new ring. This is the most important limitation of tungsten to understand before buying. It is also the reason getting the size right before ordering matters more with tungsten than with gold.

Over 100,000 orders from Horsham, West Sussex, we process size exchanges regularly. Around three in ten customers need one. This is normal and expected. Newman Bands offers a comfort exchange within 100 days for unworn, non-engraved rings. Knowing the limitation upfront lets you plan for it.

Why Tungsten Cannot Be Resized

Tungsten rings are made by sintering, not casting. Tungsten carbide powder is pressed under enormous pressure and fused with heat to form a solid ring. The result is a dense crystalline structure without grain boundaries. It is, in effect, a single compressed piece.
Why gold and silver can be resized: Cast metals can be heated until soft, stretched over a mandrel to increase size, or cut and rejoined to reduce size. The metal flows and reforms. Sintered tungsten does not soften at temperatures achievable in a jewellery setting.
Tungsten’s melting point: Tungsten carbide does not melt until approximately 2,870 degrees Celsius. Tools that reshape titanium or gold at much lower temperatures have no effect on tungsten carbide. There is no method to stretch, compress, or reshape a sintered tungsten ring without destroying it.
This applies to all tungsten rings: Regardless of price, manufacturer, or finish. It is a property of the material, not of a particular product.

Your Options If the Ring Does Not Fit

There is no resizing option, but there are three practical approaches depending on your situation.
Situation Best Option Notes
Ring arrived and does not fit. Unworn. No engraving. Exchange FREE for correct size. Newman Bands comfort exchange within 100 days. Contact us before wearing it.
Ring has been worn or is engraved. Order a new ring in the correct size. Tungsten's lower price makes this less painful than replacing a gold ring.
Ring is one size too large or too small. Try a different finger. Many men successfully wear a favourite ring on an adjacent finger rather than replacing it.
ENGRAVED RINGS: NO RETURN OR EXCHANGE
Under UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, engraved rings are personalised goods.
Personalised goods are exempt from the standard 14-day return right.
If ordering an engraved ring, size accuracy before ordering is critical.
Newman Bands recommends: order without engraving first. Confirm the size. Return for engraving.

How to Get the Right Size First Time

Around three in ten customers need a size exchange, even those measured by a jeweller beforehand. Finger size changes throughout the day, varies with temperature, and differs between the base and knuckle of the same finger. Getting it right requires the right approach.
Order the ring sizer: Newman Bands sends a physical ring sizer on request. Select “I don’t know my ring size” on any product page. The sizer typically arrives next day. Paper strips and string are not accurate enough. Ring sizes differ by less than 1mm per size. If a jeweller occasionally gets it wrong, a paper measurement almost certainly will.
Measure in the evening: Fingers swell throughout the day and in warm weather. A morning measurement will be smaller than an evening measurement. Measure at the end of the day for the most accurate reading.
Account for the knuckle: The ring must pass over the knuckle. If your knuckle is noticeably larger than the base of your finger, size for the knuckle, not the base. A ring sitting snugly at the base but not passing over the knuckle is useless.
Go larger if between sizes: A slightly loose ring is more comfortable than one too tight. For tungsten specifically, you cannot size up later. When in doubt, order the larger half-size.
SIZE RIGHT FIRST TIME: THE NEWMAN BANDS APPROACH
Order the free physical ring sizer. Do not use paper or string.
Measure in the evening. Fingers are at their largest. But ideally measure multiple times over a day and take the largest size.
If between sizes, order the larger.
Check knuckle clearance before ordering.
Order without engraving first. Confirm the fit. Return for engraving the same day.
